Mr. Melson is Chief Operating Officer of Star America Infrastructure Partners, LLC. He joined Star America after a twenty-five year career in increasingly responsible and diverse senior management positions at Bovis Lend Lease.
Mr. Melson served in critical positions as Bovis grew to become one of the leading project management and construction companies in the Americas. Early in his career he was General Counsel to the company as three United States construction companies were purchased by Bovis and integrated into one business. Upon the purchase of the company, he transitioned into an operational role, first as Operations Director for the Northeast Region and then leading this largest regional division. During this period he led a team responsible for a portfolio of projects across six states with annual revenue peaking above $3 billion. Bovis Lend Lease completed projects such as Time Warner Center and Citifield under Mr. Melson’s operational leadership.
Mr. Melson was appointed Chief Commercial Officer in 2008 and then Head of Risk and Commercial when the development and construction businesses were combined. This combined business is a leader in public private partnerships, partnering with the Department of Defense delivering Military Housing on 36 installations nationwide. It also is the first developer to begin lodging operations with IHG under the Privatization of Army Lodging, now responsible for 8,500 hotel rooms at 21 U.S. Army installations.
Mark is well known within the construction and development community as a deal maker with expertise in structuring large, complex commercial deals which have been executed successfully.
