Patrick Hughes

Patrick practices in the areas of government relations and regulation, banking, healthcare, commercial transactions and economic development. He is admitted to practice law in both Kentucky and Ohio and has successfully represented companies, institutions and individuals in a variety of regulatory compliance matters including banking, healthcare, insurance, alcoholic beverage licensing and campaign finance violations, helping them avoid or mitigate serious criminal and civil penalties. He also represents government officials and agencies in a broad array of matters including constitutional and statutory authority.

In 2015, Patrick was elected chairman of the Kentucky Democratic Party and advocates for Democratic candidates for statewide office, helps raise funds for the party and acts as the public face and spokesman for the party.

During 2011 and 2012 Patrick served as Chief Deputy Attorney General to Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway. As Chief Deputy, Patrick was responsible for daily operations of the Office of the Attorney General, including criminal and civil investigations and enforcement actions.  He also managed a number of important initiatives, including review of a major proposed hospital merger and legislation to improve the Kentucky All Schedule Prescription Electronic Reporting system, an important tool in the fight against prescription drug diversion and abuse.

Prior to joining Dressman Benzinger LaVelle, Patrick served as  legal counsel to the Secretary of the Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet, where he oversaw capital projects, property management, procurement and financial management.
